The Block is reporting U.S. President Joe Biden’s campaign is considering accepting crypto donations through Coinbase Commerce.

The Block’s source states, “They’re paying attention to issues around crypto and are trying to find quick wins to show that they’re supportive of the industry. [They want] to show that they’re not the enemy.”

This would be a turn of events in the Biden camp, who recently vetoed the Staff Accounting Bulletin (SAB) 121 Congressional Review Act (CRA). The Biden administration also released a statement opposing passage of H.R. 4763, which would affect the regulatory structure for digital assets in the United States. H.R. 4763 is also known as the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT21), which recently passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.

This would also appear to be an attempt to counteract U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign’s recent pro-crypto stance. Trump’s campaign has started accepting cryptocurrency donations, and is becoming pro-Bitcoin. Trump’s campaign most notably states, “Biden surrogate Elizabeth Warren said in an attack on cryptocurrency that she was building an “anti-crypto army” to restrict Americans’ right to make their own financial choices. MAGA supporters, now with a new cryptocurrency option, will build a crypto army moving the campaign to victory on November 5th!”

Donald Trump has also stated in a speech to the Libertarian Party, “I will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of bitcoin will be made in the USA, not driven overseas. I will support the right of self custody. To the nation’s fifty million crypto holders, I say this with your vote, I will keep Elizabeth Warren and her goons away from your bitcoin. And, I will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).”

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies appear to be hot topics in both Republican and Democrat parties ahead of the November 5th presidential election.
